Ginkgo trees are still an exotic rarity in my hometown; there are only three that I know of in the town centre. 19 September was the last day of… not exactly summer, but the transitional period between summer and autumn. I knew we were unlikely to get any more of mostly summer weather, so I celebrated it by wearing a summer dress I had managed to put on only a couple of times this year. The second bloom on the same branch; it was smaller, but it was still nice while it lasted (photo from 29 September).

Alas, that plant hasn't produced any more blooms since.There is another branch that looked promising, but I think the weather is now too cool for new flower buds.

This rose plant was very much in bloom in May; then the first heat wave ruined its blooms, and I thought it was done for this year ( Read more... )

So, after it took it 3 or 4 days to open its first bloom, the Vaguely Seasonal Cactus is going into bloom very fast.

Most of the photos here are from yesterday because today was an even darker cloudy day and I didn't manage many decent photos.
